Dr. Larsen - Family Dentist

Meet Dr. Larsen

It is an honor to be part of a profession that allows for such personal and one-on-one interaction with people. As a dentist, there is nothing more fulfilling than helping patients achieve optimum oral health and an aesthetically pleasing smile that enhances their self-esteem and confidence.

The connection between a person’s dental health and the health of their body cannot be underestimated. Many patients do not understand this interaction, so our team devotes a lot of our time to teaching. When a patient learns how to improve their oral health and sees the change in their body’s overall wellness, we are all thrilled!

Education and Experience

I grew up in Pullman, WA, graduating from Pullman High School in 1975. I attended Utah State University for my first year of college. I then served a two-year Spanish-speaking mission for the LDS Church in the Philadelphia, PA, area. Upon returning home, I resumed my studies at Washington State University, completing a BS degree in Zoology in 1981.

I attended the University of Washington School of Dentistry, graduating in 1985 with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. I served as a dentist in the U.S. Air Force from 1985-1991. During my service in the Air Force, I was awarded two Commendation Medals and the National Defense Medal (Desert Storm).

While in the Air Force I received additional training in periodontal treatment (gum disease). Following this training, I was given oversight of the periodontal care for all active-duty patients at the two bases where I was stationed. Without this training, these patients would have been referred off-site for their treatment. I also worked closely with the Air Force Reserve periodontists when they visited our clinics.

After completing my service in 1991, I returned to Pullman to a private dental practice with a focus on family-friendly care.

A large part of my commitment to my patients and my profession is continuing education. I regularly complete both didactic and hands-on courses with an emphasis on aesthetics, periodontal disease, and implant restoration. Through these courses, I am able to stay abreast of current treatment concepts, learn about new developments, and review research findings, etc.

I’m an active member of the American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association, Spokane District Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. I have been a member of the Intermountain Odontology Study Club (an affiliate of the Seattle Study Club) since its inception in 2003.

Beyond the Practice

My beautiful wife, Amalia (Molly), is a breast cancer survivor. We have five terrific children — Stefany, Dustin, Kyle, Ryan, and Eric — as well as seven incredible grandchildren. When not in the office, Molly and I often go to visit them. I also enjoy sports, camping, hiking, fishing, and travel (especially historical sites).

While in high school I achieved the Eagle Scout Award as a member of the Boy Scouts of America. For a number of years after returning to Pullman, I would spend my summer vacations with my sons and their troop at Camp Grizzly, helping them and other young men earn their Eagle Scout awards.

Meet Our Team

Carrie, Dental Hygienist - Pullman, WA

Carrie, Dental Hygienist

I like helping my patients achieve the best possible dental health they can. Seeing a person take control of their smile’s health is so rewarding! With lots of patient education, support, and encouragement, Dr. Larsen and our team really do improve lives.

I clean teeth, perform scaling and root planing, assess periodontal health, and administer anesthetic. While working with my patients, I talk with them about the connection between oral and overall health and how they can achieve healthy smiles and bodies. When a person comes for a recall visit and I can see he or she has made positive changes, I can’t help but smile.

Loette, Business Administrator

I enjoy building relationships with patients and seeing people become excited about caring for their oral health. I’ve known some of our patients for more than 30 years, and they feel like family to me! It’s a great feeling to work with such a talented doctor and team, each of whom cares for our patients with respect and compassion.

I keep Dr. Larsen’s books full and answer the phones. I also handle insurance pre-determinations, process claims, and serve as the financial coordinator, so I oversee billing. Working with patients, I review treatment plans, too. Since I’m a registered and certified dental assistant, I’m able to answer questions about procedures and options.

Outside of work, I enjoy time with my husband of almost 50 years, three grown children, and eight grandchildren. I also like music, cooking, sewing, church activities, and pampering my two cats.

Stacia, Registered Dental Hygienist

I earned my Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene from Eastern Washington University and worked at family dental offices in Spokane for two years. As a new member of Dr. Larsen’s staff, I am looking forward to working on a team to help improve patients’ oral health. The best part of my job is getting to know our family of patients and helping them to feel as comfortable as possible.

My husband, Morgan, and I were married in August 2017. We have a Chihuahua named Opie. A native of western Washington, I love all things outdoors, such as hiking, biking, and camping. I have a passion for music and love being involved with local community theaters.

Amber, Registered Dental Assistant - Pullman, WA

Amber, Registered Dental Assistant

I began dental assisting in April of 2015 and fell in love with it! I have attended various training courses on a wide variety of topics. Aside from my interest and passion in the procedures we practice, my favorite part about my job is the patient interaction. My goal is to be a light to those around me and to create an experience for patients that is friendly and comfortable. I love working at Dr. Larsen’s office because we all truly work as a team and in doing so, I feel we provide excellent care for our patients.

I have had roots in the Palouse my entire life and have lived here myself for the last six years. Outside of my time at work, my husband and I enjoy getting outdoors to play disc golf, going out to eat, and watching movies with our cat, Olive. My favorite hobby of all is baking and cake decorating.

Mariela, Registered Dental Assistant

My husband and I are from Yakima, WA and have been on the Palouse for three years. In our spare time, my husband and I take our dog, Jax, or our nephew, Noel, hiking and exploring the local scenery. I enjoy traveling, cooking, trying different foods, and being surrounded by my family. During my time at the office, I love to interact with many patients! I enjoy getting to know our patients in order to create a good, trusting relationship. I assist the doctor by providing optimal patient care and making sure our patients have the best, most comfortable visit possible. I always look forward to working with a team that is so passionate about patient care and providing the best treatment for our patient family.
